Quiz & Chip Night 2017

    (Info uploaded 24/03/17)

A big thank you to all those who supported the quiz last Friday – still a few pennies to be counted but the profit on the event will be around £2, 800 which will more than cover the purchase of a lighting tower, which was the #1 item on the Wish List, and a few more things beside.

The evening was opened by the Year 11 band Altitude who treated us to a short showcase of their musical expertise without resorting to any thrash metal their ‘manager’ feared.  They’re certainly a talented group and we’re looking forward to them opening the evening bill for HowardFest on 24th June.

The dinner and quiz ran smoothly with around 200 people being fed and entertained without controversy or complaint (always a good outcome).  The bar was busy and extremely well run by Caroline Priddy and Jo Campbell (they told me) so thanks to them for their hard work.

The quiz questions were great as usual and we are indebted to Andy Wall for providing these.  The markers – perhaps they should have been called maskers – under the guidance of Martin did a sterling job keeping pace with all the answer sheets coming in so thanks to Samantha Anastasi, Lynsey McClure, Jenny Jeffrey and Bruce Gomme for their work and Lorraine Elliott for setting up the raffle.  Anthony Norris was on hand too providing occasional musical support and shooting the action photography.

Local glory goes to the evening’s winners who were Claire Coe for Heads or Tails, ‘In Dog Beers, We’ve Only Had One’ who by popular vote won the Best Name Prize narrowly beating Whiskeypedia and the Spring Greens who triumphed in the quiz (I know who’d have thought Liz had such clever friends?!).  Commiserations to The Quizicals for being the Alternate Winners and now the proud owners of some wooden cutlery.

Thanks to all for the support - Roy Campbell
